WONCA, the World Organisation of Family Doctors, has always encouraged young doctors in Family Practice/ General Practice. Family practice in different parts of the globe have different strengths and limitations. Young family physicians who aim to make a difference in the primary healthcare delivery have their own aspirations as well as apprehensions. Young doctors' movements were started to share these and learn from each other.
In 2005, Vasco da Gama Movement was formed in Europe as an organisation for young family physicians, followed by Asia Pacific's Rajakumar Movement in 2009.The Spice Route Movement was formed in South Asia Region in 2012 and Spice Route India is also a part of this movement.
I am extremely honoured to be given the opportunity to lead The Spice Route India Movement. As chair of the newly elected Spice Route India council, I strongly believe and hope that we can witness a magnificent, unparalleled growth of Spice Route India Movement. We pledge to bring together young family doctors across the country on this forum and be part of their professional journey. We, as a group of dynamic and enthusiastic young doctors, shall strive to make a difference in Family practice/ Primary care for the benefit of the community we serve.
I sincerely thank Academy of Family Physicians of India (AFPI) for all the encouragement and support extended to us.
We welcome all budding Family Physicians to be a part of this movement. Together we can achieve greater heights.
