Message from the National Chair

Dear Family Physicians, Young Doctors, and Friends of Family Medicine,

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the Spice Route India Movement -- AFPI.

Spice Route is more than an organisation or a network. It is a growing community of young doctors and family physicians across India who believe in people-centred, comprehensive, continuous, and compassionate care.

Young doctors are bringing new ideas, energy, and possibilities to our discipline. Yet, many of us often work in isolation. Spice Route seeks to change that.

We want a postgraduate in Kashmir to feel connected to a colleague in Kerala, and a young family physician in the Northeast to have a professional community to turn to. We want residents to learn not only from textbooks, but also from the experiences of those who have walked the path before them. And we want every young doctor to know that their voice matters.

At the heart of Spice Route is the belief that our community grows when we connect with one another, learn from one another, and create opportunities to lead and contribute.

We envision a space where colleagues can share clinical experiences, academic opportunities, research ideas, practical skills, innovations, and the everyday realities of Family Medicine. A space where friendships and professional relationships transcend geographical boundaries, and where young doctors are encouraged not merely to be the future of Family Medicine, but active contributors to its present.

Like the historic spice routes that connected people, cultures, and ideas across regions, we aspire to build bridges between family physicians and young doctors from every corner of India.
